My name is Sam Collins. I am not a PGA professional. I am not a golf instructor or sponsored by any golf club or association. I am retired and have a passion for golf. I am not a great golfer, but I am driven to become better at my golf game, like talking, and writing about golf.
I recently retired and I am still sorting it out how to best utilize my time. Since retiring I have rekindled my love for the game of golf.
This is my conversational web site. You are not required to use my experiences for yourself, but if so, you do at your own risk. Your use of this blog is strictly optional. Being a part of this site is free, so extract and contribute only what you think will work for you or maybe help others.
I like writing and this blog gives me the outlet to be insightful and expressive. If you see typos or grammatical errors, quite frankly it is probably a reflection of a great day on the golf course or a really bad day, anyway, I’m retired and don’t really care. Read through the fodder and extract the points made by myself and others. The goal is to make this blog site accessible to anyone who loves golf and to make it easily readable and a place where you can express yourself.
If you are retired and have a passion for playing golf, then this blog may give you a few ideas about the experiences of other retired golfers or you may want to share your own opinions and experiences.
Retired golfers experience ups and downs with their golf game and often can share golf tips, where to play golf, great golf clubs, vacation golf spots and just plain general talk about yourself, pros, clubs, your golfing community and current golfing championship tournaments on a local level or PGA.

My Short Story
I learned to love golf while growing up in New Market, Virginia. This small town had 2 traffic lights and a 18 golf course, the Shenvalee Golf Resort. I caddied and scoured up lost balls. As a caddy I received some free golf and learned the game of golf. My favorite club, (7 iron), was not only my favorite at the time, but my only club. I drove, chipped and putted with my 7 iron.
I recently retired from my financial business, after having been self employed since 1972. During my working career I was raising a family and had little time to play golf. I started playing golf again last summer and rekindled my joy for the game of golf after having not played regularly since high school.
Currently I am a member of Loch Nairn Golf Club, in Toughenemon, Pennsylvania. My golf handicap is 16 and changes as my game can go either up or down on any given day.
Wow! Things have changed a lot in the golfing world!
Best Part About Me
I am married, have 4 children, 4 grandchildren and live outside Newark, Delaware. I served in the US Army, worked my way through college and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University. I have started several small business ventures, totaling over 40 years of self employment. I love to play golf and attending my grandchildren sporting events . I have authored 3 books related to my past careers.
